Have you been diagnosed with celiac disease? Do you have stomach problems that improve when you go on a gluten-free diet? Or are you simply sensitive to certain foods, or related to someone who is?

If you answered "yes" to any of these questions, this site is for you. Let's face it, if you can't tolerate gluten, you face diet challenges that no one really understands unless they share similar food allergies or intolerances.

With the growing awareness of celiac disease, more people are embracing the gluten-free trend. As such, more companies are responding with tasty, flavorful foods that are gluten-free and celiac-friendly.

Shearer's Foods, Inc. is one such company. Our specialty is riceworks®, our gourmet, gluten-free whole-grain rice crisps. And while we'd love everyone to try our tasty crisps, the real purpose of this site is to provide a forum of advice, discussion, recipes and help for anyone with celiac disease, allergic to gluten or wanting to manage and live a gluten-free life. Enjoy.

What Foods Contain Gluten?

Being on a gluten-free diet requires that you remove ALL gluten from your diet. This can be a tricky task, especially if you do a lot of shopping at the grocery store for pre-made meals or items. It’s no wonder that someone on a strict gluten-free diet might feel overwhelmed and very unexcited about figuring out what foods contain gluten and what foods are safe to eat.

Everyone likes a snack once in a while. Buying a healthy snack to have on hand is something most people need to plan ahead. Once we get into the grocery store we might just grab the first snack we come across. Nine times out of ten that might be a bag of potato chips or some form of chocolate.

Ingredients to Beware of on a Gluten-Free Diet

When on a gluten-free diet you know how important it is to make sure you are eating the proper foods. Often we look at foods from the point of what ingredients we CAN eat but it is just as important to make sure we know what foods to avoid.

Usually it’s fairly clear but other times ingredients may be hiding in foods that we were not aware of. When on a diet that is gluten free it’s so important to never take for granted or assume that what you are buying is 100% pure. Always assume there are possible unsafe ingredients, fillers and points of contamination.
